Advani to address paddy growers rally

State BJP is organising a farmer's rally in Bhandara district of Eastern Vidharbha on May 3 to highlight the problems of paddy growers in the area. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, state BJP chief Nitin Gadkari said that senior BJP leader L K Advani will be addressing this rally in Bhandara's Sakoli area. Advani, along with party General Secretary Gopinath Munde, other parties MP and legislators will address the paddy growers' rally to resolve their various issues. The paddy growers are demanding Rs 1200 price per quintal for paddy, crop loan at an interest of four percent and a total loan waiver for farmers, he said. Munde and Gadkari, who were involved in a bitter controversy that prompted the former to quit all party posts recently, later buried their differences following intervention from the central party leadership, will share the dais for the first time in Vidarbha region. Also, the state BJP President will personally visit the paddy growing areas of Bhandara, Gonida and parts of Nagpur district as a part of preparations for May 3 rally. Speaking about poor implementation of Prime Minister's financial package for farmers, Gadkari demanded a CBI probe into alleged corruption in package besides looking into the causes of its failure, provision of poor quality agro equipments to the affected farmers and non-payment of compensation to farmers.
