The Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy, and Atomic Energy Commission Chairman, Srikumar Banerjee, on Friday denied suggestions that the design of the nuclear power reactors proposed to be installed at Jaitapur was untested. In an interactive session at the National Physical Laboratory here, he contended that the reactors were based on an evolutionary design. Drawing analogy with the automobile sector, he said it was like a car company coming up with a new model with better features.
