Ajmer: The Atomic Mineral Department (AMD) of India has started an aerial survey in Pushkar region to explore the deposition of Uranium after a preliminary confirmation of radiation in this arid place. A 15-member team including specialists from India, Canada, US and other countries will conduct the aerial survey with high-tech helicopters to find the Uranium deposit in the earth. The survey is expected to last for almost a month.
The team has made Kishanpura village as their base station, where they have also stored enough helicopter fuel for non-stop work. The village is only five kilometres from Pushkar town.
The aerial survey will be done in Tilora, Kishanpura, Savitri temple hills, Pushkar and Ajmer. If the team find deposit of Uranium and other atomic minerals, they will then start the ground survey to find the economic utility of extracting the mineral in the region. This is the second place after Sikar where the AMD is conducting the survey to get the deposition of atomic mineral. The department has also received an indication of similar deposit in Udaipur district.
The special team, which started work on Monday, is presently busy finding the depth and quality of Uranium in Ajmer district. They have begun with getting a full graphic of upper and lower crest of the earth.
Meanwhile, the helicopter and the survey became the centre of attraction for villagers. On Tuesday, children from nearby villages gathered near the base camp to see the chopper.
