More than 4,000 youngsters from north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region were organized to plant pine trees along both banks of the Yellow river at weekends, said local sources. The effort is just part of the autonomous region's many activities calculated to protect rivers running through it, including the Yellow river, Nengiang river and Liaohe river, to curb soil erosion and protect the eco-environment.
