The Government has given the go ahead to the Army to raise a Agni Missile Strategic Group. The raising of this first visible land-based nuclear deterrence will commence in June 2002 and the group will be operational by June 2005. This decision will propel India into the select group of nations possessing modern technology for nuclear deterrence.
