Ahluwalia praises use of information technology in forestry

Central Planning Commission Vice Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia appreciated the use of information technology in the forest department of Madhya Pradesh Government and asked the officials to give presentation in Delhi in this regard.
Ahluwalia along with forest minister Sartaj Singh apprised himself of application of information technology in the command room of forest department. Central Environment and Forest Secretary T. Chaterjee, state Principal Chief Forest Conservator Ramesh K. Dave and other officials were present.
Additional Principal Chief Forest Conservator (Information technology) Anil Oberai informed Ahluwalia about fire alert system, survey under forest rights act, wild management system, departmental works and financial management as well as about works being done for water conservation under Bundelkhand package. Oberai also apprised the vice chairman of national and international awards conferred to the department for the use of information technology. He also informed that the forest department of Madhya Pradesh is also providing guidance to other states for the application of information technology.
Ahluwalia showed his interest in using information technology of forest department of Madhya Pradesh for the rural development and asked the officials to give presentation in Delhi in this respect.
