the deaths of six workers in two incidents within a fortnight at Alang has once again come as a grim reminder of the extremely hazardous working conditions for the workers, mainly migrants from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Orissa. The deaths have come within a month of the high-profile protestst by Greenpeace which has warned that the world's biggest ship breaking yeard was a recipe for disaster. The latest shocking incident came on Monday when three workers climbed into a ship's oil tank to cleanit up --never to come back.
