Alarming drop in forest cover in Bihar

The fast dwindling forest cover in Bihar threatens to accelerate climatic changes in the state due to the indicriminate felling of trees. According to national norms (ideal forest cover should exceed 33 per cent of the land area), the area under forest cover in the state should have been 57,900 sq km. It is only 30,072 sq.km at present.
