The alcohol lobby, including Jagatjit Distilleries, Radico Khaitan Group and K K Birla Group, has for long pushed for the use of alcohol as oxygenator in fuel. Now the distillers, using the environment plank, have stepped up pressure on the Petroleum Ministry.Emboldened by a pro-active judiciary and the Supreme Court order directing automobile manufacturers to comply with the Euro I and II norms, the distillers have decided to take recourse to the public interest litigation route to encounter the powerful oil PSUs lobby.
