Raising of the Almatti reservoir level in Karnataka may reduce power generation at Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar power houses in Andhra Pradesh by 1,000 million units per year, according to SNC Lavalin, international consultants, which conducted simulation studies in this regard. Disclosing this to reporters here on Friday, Mr J. Parthasarathy, Chairman and Managing Director of Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APGenco), said that the simulation studies were based on the past inflow data for a period of 1971 to 2002 in the Krishna river basin. The annual generation of power by the two hydro power projects in Andhra Pradesh would vary based on the yearly inflow quantum as well as the pattern in the entire Krishna basin.
