The concentration of pesticide detected in Chinese-made frozen dumplings which sickened family members in Chiba Prefecture in January was found to be up to about 10,000 times in excess of the quarantine standard, police officials said Thursday. According to police investigations, the amount of the organophosphate pesticide methamidophos found from the dough and fillings of dumplings which the family consumed turned out to be more than 3,000 parts per million, the officials said. The quarantine standard is set at the level at which human health would not be affected even if the substance was consumed every day.
