Environmental aspects, if not taken care of appropriately can cause serious problems to hydel projects during construction, thereby causing setbacks to the economy.In Chamba district, two hydel projects have been completed and both have given an excellent performance. These projects were constructed by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) , which so far has a very clear image on such fronts with its projects becoming eco-friendly. Environmental measures of these projects have been conducted in a conductive manner which has been in the prime reason for their continuity during construction period without being threatened by environmental lobbies.
