Lucknow: Exactly after a gap of ten days since an adult crocodile was caught from a pond in Fattepurwa village of Chinhat locality, forest team rescued another such crocodile from a pond in Bhakamau village. The crocodile was spotted on Sunday morning and the matter was brought to the notice of the forest department team. The team caught the reptile on Tuesday from the village under Gudamba police station, which was then taken to the ghariyal rehabilitation centre in Kukrail. The incident is third of such kind in a month. A day after a croc was caught from Fattepurwa village, another reptile was seen lurking in a pond in some other locality of Chinhat by villagers. Sunday's sighting is third in the series of similar incidents. The rescued reptiles after being kept under quarantine period at the centre for some time are released in the wild. The experts, however, do not find sighting of crocodiles in the monsoon period a rare phenomenon. These creatures are believed to slunk through the over-flowing and inter-connected water bodies from one locality to another and in the process happen to appear in human inhabited places. The reptiles recede with the ebbing waters. Though controlling the natural phenomenon of reptiles moving through water bodies is not possible, experts and forest officials do mention that humans need to be on their guard if they notice croc in their locality. Crocodiles are known to be aggressive, hence it is advisable not to disturb them and also not to venture too close to their territory.
