Fusarium oxysporum and Ganoderma lucidum, two dreaded fungi, are responsible for the mysterious forest disease which has caused large-scale mortality of shisham trees in the mid-hill areas of Himachal Pradesh over the past two years. This is the second major forest disease detected in the state over the past six months.
