According to NASA, the hole in the ozone layer above the Antarctic is three times bigger than the entire land mass of the US, the largest size ever observed. The hole, or what scientists call the 'depletion area', had expanded to 28.3 million square kilometres by September 3, though its size has now stabilised, according to NASA.
