Anti-erosion work at Achala Pathar

SIVASAGAR, Feb 17 – Water Resources Minister Rajib Lochan Pegu today inaugurated an anti-erosion plan at Achala Pathar in Sivasagar district. The project aims to protect the area by implementing a Rs 6.80-crore project along Dikhow Bund from Upper Nazira to AT Road. While inaugurating the project, Pegu said that the government is serious for addressing the flood and erosion problems in the State. Pegu also stated that geo-bag pitching would be done over a stretch of 520m while the porcupine screening would cover the remaining area. Pegu was accompanied by his wife, Nazira LAC MLA Debabrat Saikia, Additional Chief Engineer of Upper Assam Water Resources Department, Uma Baruah, Executive Engineer Abdul Wajid, Nazira SDO Dipak Bora and other senior department officials.
