The Bangladesh Army has undertaken a massive programme to make the National Tree Plantation Campaign-2008 a success. Quarter master general of the Bangladesh Army Lieutenant General M Jahangir Alam Choudhury inaugurated the tree plantation campaign of the army by planting a palm sapling beside the Army Central Mosque on Sunday. Senior army officers were present on the occasion. Later, he offered prayers seeking success of the campaign, said an ISPR release. This year, the army has chalked out a massive programme for planting saplings in army establishments throughout the country. In addition, as part of government's initiative of making the capital a green city, the army has undertaken special tree plantation drive in the city's military outfits, which includes 21,000 saplings of fruit, timber and medicinal species. The Bangladesh Army has received national awards in previous years as the recognition of its contribution in enhancing forest resources of the country, the release added.
