The Archaeological Survey of India has defended its decision to allow the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to take its rail line through the prohibited or regulated area of two protective monuments in the Capital, saying the construction work or passing trains will not damage the structures even slightly. In an affidavit filed in Delhi High Court, ASI's Superintending Archaeologist A K Sinha, through counsel Sanjay Jain, said it had impressed upon the DMRC authorities that constructing the Metro rail there would not cause the slightest damage to the monuments.
