Assam Rifles presents a water storage tank to village

27 Assam Rifles has dedicated a water storage tank with pipeline to Ghukhiye village under Zunheboto district in Nagaland, stated a press release. It was a dream come true for the people of Ghukhiye village which was facing acute shortage of water for ages. The Ghukhiye village which has a population of approx 700 suffers from a perpetual water problem in summers, as there is no provision for storage of water. On a plea from the residents of Ghukhiye village, 27 Assam Rifles took up the responsibility of ensuring this most basic need of life and ensured construction of water storage tank to get rid of water crisis. The proposal was accepted by the higher Headquarters and was sanctioned under Army Military Civic Action Project 2007-08. The resident of Ghukhiye village appreciated and extended their gratitude to 27 Assam Rifles for this support. Addressing the public at the inaugural function as the chief guest, Officiating Commandant 27 Assam Rifles reiterated that Assam Rifles is committed to the welfare of the people and will persist to ensure the development of the basic infrastructures in the remote areas of the State.
