The Legislative Assembly today passed the Karnataka Slum Areas (improvement & clearance) and Certain other law (amendment) Bill, 2002 which empowers the government to transfer lands belonging to it or a local authority to the Karnataka Slum Clearance Board. The Bill also empowers the Board to lease, allot, sell or transfer the sites formed in a layout to slum-dwellers.
