Australia was accused today of flouting a worldwide ban on toxic waste disposal just a day before a global conference on the control of hazardous waste. Environmental watchdog Greenpeace said it had evidence that Australia was seeking to expand a loophole that allowed it to continue dumping waste material in developing countries.
