On November 23 and 24, the apex court will consider the arguments of both the greens-- represented by the Environmental Pollution Control Authority (EPCA)-- and the auto manufacturers on the virtues and evils of diesel engines. The EPCA in its final report submitted in early October has reiterated its demand for a ban on new diesel-driven cars. A final verdict on that and on and what must be done to curb air pollution is likely to come out around the same time.
