Scientists have found an elusive microbes that could break down a major environmental pollutant known as TCA, according to a report published Thursday in Science magazine. "TCA was one of the remaining ground water pollutants for which biodegradation had not been resolved" said James Tiedje, researcher, Professor of Microbiology at Michigan State University and one of the authors of the study. TCA is a cancerous industrial solvent found in nearly half of the toxic waste.
