The concept of joint forest management (JFM) is proving boon for the Baigas. Just at the distance of 14km. from Mandla but situated in the precinct of dense forests, the village of Kota Sangawa is practically fully populated by Baigas. The centre and state both are trying hard to save the Baigas from so-called extinction, although the pace of developments in the direction are tardy.
