Bandora locals, under the banner of Jan Jagruti Manch, Bandora, and Gaune Dahajan Samaj, have given an ultimatum to the government to revert the allegedly illegally converted land at Katamgal-Bandora in Ponda back to animal grazing land. They have threatened to take out a morcha on the state assembly on October 9 if government failed to do so. Govind Gaude alleged that the land, belonging to Bandora comunidade, has been illegally converted by a person from Bandora. Describing it as the work of a land mafia, Gaude alleged that government machinery, including local ministers and the chief minister, were also involved in it. Members of NGOs have also submitted a representation to Ponda deputy collector Johnson Fernandes and confronted him on the alleged illegal conversion.
