BHUBANESWAR : Asking the UPA to focus on fighting inflation instead of the Indo-US nuclear deal, the CPI on Sunday said the Central Government should not be sacrificed in the name of such an agreement as nobody wanted early polls. "The priority at this moment is to fight the rising inflation and not the nuclear deal,' CPI general secretary A B Bardhan told reporters on the sidelines of a convention here against POSCO's proposed steel project in Orissa. He said nobody favoured early elections except the "divisive forces'. "I do not understand why the Government is in such a hurry to go ahead with the deal... After all, it is not a deal between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President George W Bush, but between India and the US,' the CPI leader argued.
