Uttaranchal Governor S S Barnala and the State forest department appear to be on the collision course over the former's insistence that a road should be constructed to facilitate easy travelling for pilgrims to Hemkunt Sahib. Under the existing proposal, the construction of the road would entail chopping up of 2,968 trees, of which, 2,135 fall in the protected category.
