An electric bus is poised to make its debut in the SAR next month, according to its New Zealand manufacturer. Designline Ltd, which makes the Olymbus, said it planned to bring one of the buses to Hong Kong next month for inspection by operators and authorities. Three of the 37-seat buses have been running in Christchurch since last December. The Olymbus is powered by water-cooled batteries. They can be recharged by an auxiliary power unit using a low-emission, diesel-powered generator, or by fitting a zero-emission turbo-generator.
