India's first-ever rankings of best cities to live in conducted for Outlook Money by the New Delhi based Indicus Analyticus, this intensive survey is backed by a rigorous methodology that takes into account a wide-span set of parameters: from temperature extremes, rainfall variations and pollution to number of doctors, number of hospitals and number of seats in quality educational institutes, to the increase in savings accounts and deposits, to the average speeds on the road, to the number of households with good water supply and sewerage systems, to average spending per child, to number of murders and rapes... The sources used for this exercise have been the most credible from the RBI, the Medical Council of India and the National Sample Survey Organisation, the Meteorological Survey of India and the Census of India.
