Tourists planning an outing at Betla National Park, Palamau, in the next few months may just do well to forgo the trip. For, the wildlife authorities have decided to close the park for three months from July 1 to provide privacy to animals to help them breed. Wildlife officials argue that monsoon is the best mating season for animals and therefore, they are only trying to create a congenial environment. They further said that the decision was taken keeping the factor of wildlife management in view. Besides, the condition of roads, which are generally non-metallic in forest areas, deteriorates during monsoon.
