CHENNAI-BASED BGR Energy Systems has secured a Rs 4,900-crore EPC contract from Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadam Ni-gam for its 2x600 MW Kalisindh Thermal power project at Jhalawar in Rajasthan. This greenfield project is perhaps the largest engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract in the country. The scope of the project includes design, engineering, supply of boiler and steam turbine generator, BGR Energy CMD B G Raghupathy said.
He added the project would have two of Asia's tallest natural draft cooling towers, designed and built in-house by BGR. It would be a zero discharge power station. With this, the order book of BGR has swelled to Rs 11,000 crore, which includes balance of plant contracts of 500 MW and two EPC contracts of 600 MW units and contracts of oil and gas equipment sector projects.
