Bharat Nirman Campaign launched in Mokokchung

Temjen Kaba, president Ao Senden on March 26 urged all local bodies of Mokokchung district to improve proper coordination with the implementing agencies of different flagship schemes on Bharat Nirman Programmes sponsored by the Central Government for ensuring economic advancement of target beneficiaries, stated a press release. The Ao body chief was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural session of the three-day Bharat Nirman Campaign launched at Town Hall, Mokokchung. He further highlighted all the flagship programmes of the Central Government. Speaking as the guest of honour Nungshey Apang, Head GB, GBs Union, Mokokchung Town, lauded the importance of national integration of India. Speaking highly on the evolution of NREGA scheme in Mokokchung since 2007, he asserted that the Act is a sort of success story which provides job security to the rural masses for at least 100 days being supported by guaranteed wage. In his keynote address Tsukajem Allbenger, Project Director, DRDA, Mokokchung, presented a bird's eye view of different Centrally-Sponsored Schemes under implementation in the district. B Longkumer, vice-president, the Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Limited and president, Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industries appreciated the efforts made by media units of the Ministry of I&B, Government of India, for initiating such a mega awareness campaign on Central Government-sponsored schemes in Mokokchung district for the first time. He urged all local people to visit the photo exhibition of DAVP at the campaign site to get a detailed knowledge on the purpose of organizing this public information campaign in the district. The inaugural session was followed by a technical session on NREGA and Bharat Nirman Programmes like Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana, Rural Water Supply Scheme (Swajaldhara) and so on. Importantly, there was stormy public interaction between the local people and the implementing officials in the district. The session was so stormy, especially aggressive questions were put forwarded by GB members, that the Head of GBs Union had to come to the dais and pacify the members. Earlier, Pankaj Pandey, IIS, Deputy Director, Media & Communication, Press Information Bureau, Guwahati, presented his welcome address.
