BHEL completes model test for Hydro Project

Bhopal, July 24: BHEL, Bhopal's Hydro Laboratory added another feather in its cap by successfully completing the Model Test for prestigious Shrinagar Hydro Electric Project in Uttarakhand State. The project is being developed by Alaknanda Hydro Power Company Limited, Secunderabad.
It has four Turbine, Generator Sets, each of 82.5 MW rating with Francis type of turbine operating under rated net head of 65 m and 166.6 rmp. The turbine runner for this project is of 4000-mm diameter. This prestigious order was bagged by BHEL against International competitive bidding. Design and development of Vertical Francis turbine suitable for this project was carried out by Hydro Laboratory Engineers.
The model test was successfully completed in presence of Engineers from M/s AHPCL and their consultants M/s TCE and M/s SGS. The test proved the turbine capability to meet the guaranteed efficiency, output and other guaranteed parameters. MK Dube, General Manager (Hydro) handed over copy of "Model Test Results" to customer in a function held in Hydro Laboratory.
Dube expressed his happiness over successful completion of model test and congratulated Hydro Lab team in conducting three Model Tests successfully and wished that the team will complete all the tests as per contractual commitments. GC Manilal, General Manager of AHPCL said that Model Test is an important milestone and it will lead to timely completion of scheduled project activities.
He said that we are satisfied with the test on Hydro Lab since all the tests were conducted as per IEC. He praised Hydro Lab team for conducting the test as per schedule.
Touching farewell to Prasad
Bhopal, July 24: In a simple programme held at BHEL Administrative Building, RK Singh, Executive Director of BHEL, Bhopal bade farewell to MC Prasad, General Manager (HR) on his retirement. All General Managers and Senior Executives were present on this occasion.
Singh in his address highly appreciated contributions of MC Prasad in different departments of Bhopal Unit and Jagdishpur and Corporate Office of BHEL. He said that Prasad during his tenure at BHEL played a very important role in decision making by the management and his contribution in the growth of the company is appreciating.
Prasad did his BE (Electrical) from BHU in 1971 and joined in BHEL in 1972 as an Engineer trainee. He served various departments of the unit as well as Jagdishpur Unit and Corporate Office in New Delhi.
