Ravaged by an earthquake in 2001, Kutchis are not only rebuilding their lives slowly but also addressing the issues like water crisis. Interestingly, an aspect that marks the rebuilding of their homes is that people want rainwater harvesting to be included as an integral part of the new master plan. Disaster Mitigation Institute, Ahmedabad-based NGO, in its survey of 285 respondents found that about 99.65 per cent voted for rainwater harvesting as a sustainable solution for fighting the water crisis.
