Bicycles distributed among girl students

Under the Chief Minister's Asom Bikash Yojana, under which bicycles have been provided to the girl students of Class VIII and IX from the BPL families, the Minister for Irrigation, Fishery and Soil Conservation Nurjamal Sarker ceremoniously distributed 288 bicycles free of cost to different girl students, in the first phase from various educational institutions under Biswanath subdivision at a colourful function held at the Ekadash Smriti Bhawan in Biswanath Chariali recently. He also distributed a coloured television set to the Kuwari gaon panchayat on the occasion. The Sonitpur ZPC president Rupa Praja Additional Deputy Commissioner Sonitpur Prabhat Konwar SDO, Biswanath, Vishal Solanki was present on the occasion as the distinguished guest. The SDIPRO Biswanath Chariali Pranjit Hazarika anchored the programme. Speaking on the occasion the minister stated that after assuming office the chief minister has given topmost priority to the Education sector among with the Health sector for which revolutionary change has come about in educational institution. He stated that educational institutions have received enough funds for infrastructure development and free textbooks school dresses computers including bicycles has been provided to the students. He informed that under this scheme, 106 High and Higher Secondary schools have been provided with 5743 bicycles in Sonitpur district from which 1610 have been distributed in Biswanath Subdivision. He expressed optimism that the girl students would be greatly benefited through the bicycles and also laid stress on its proper utilisation. He further stated that all the educational institutions in Biswanath CAC has been provided with funds for infrastructural development and other facilities. He stated that the guardians and teachers have a great role to play in guiding their students or children to become a responsible citizen of the country. The occasion was also graced by ZPC members Dipak Das Adhar Kurmi CEO Sonitpur Dipak Sarma and BCTC chairman Atul Deka. Earlier the minister inaugurated the 59th Van Mahotsav organised by the Forest office of the Sonitpur East Division at the Satsanga High School premises by planting a sapling. The SDO Biswanath Vishal Solanki SDIPRO Pranjit Hazarika, DFO I/C SEF N Haque Dr K Bora graced the occasion as the guest of honour. On the occasion a meeting was held at the school premises where Dr Sunil Bora Asstt Professor of Biswanath College of Agriculture addressed the occasion as the resource person.
