An automated Fuel Testing Laboratory (FTL) to determine adulterants in fuels - petrol, diesel and kerosense - sold through outlets in the National Capital Territory will start functioning in Noida, New Delhi, soon. According to Mr Sudfhir Singhal, acting director of the Indian Institute of Petroleum(IIP)in Dehradun, the Noida FTL when functional will solve a major problem facing the country as adulteration of fuels leads to increased exhaust emissions from vehicles and consequently increased loading of the environment by pollutants.
