Greenpeace released a report detailing the expansion of the capacity, or fishing power, of the world's industrial fishing fleet over the past few years. The report "Assessment of the World's Fishing Fleet 1991-1997" by Chris Newton and John Fitzpatrick, two leading international fisheries experts, calls for a 50 per cent cut in the capacity of this fleet.
