Biggest plant in Asia to produce cheese from goat milk

A plant producing cheese from goat milk will start production at Khajuraho in Chhattarpur district from first week of September. This will be the first and biggest plant in Asia and the cheese produced here will be exported to European countries. Agreements to this effect have already been signed. 300 persons will get direct employment at the plant. Along with this 200 more families will also get employment with related trades. M/s Goatfresh Farm Private Limited, Noida, Uttar Pradesh is installing the plant at Khajuraho. Madhya Pradesh State Veterinary and Poultry Development Corporation Bhopal had already signed contract with the firm on 9 January 2010.
The above information was given by the Additional Chief Secretary and Agriculture Production Commissioner Smt. Abha Ashtana at a meeting held at Sagar today to review activities of veterinary, fisheries and horticulture departments.
The Madhya Pradesh State Veterinary and Poultry Development Corporation is assisting in the works of preparation of D.P.R., getting loan from the banks, linking of marketing, and getting subsidy from the state government for processing etc. The bank has sanctioned loan of Rs 28 crore on August 28, 2010 for this purpose. The Goatfresh Farm will assist in creating goat rearing places around the Khajuraho plant and establish the goat owners near the plant. Around 100 persons will be benefited with this. The beneficiaries will set up units of 100 to 500 goats in each unit.
Smt. Abha Ashtana issued directives that the government of India has sanctioned additional economic package to Bundelkhand region and we will have to spend every paisa of it fruitfully. For this it will be necessary to complete the works sanctioned under the package within the stipulated time. It should be ensured that all the beneficiaries of the projects under the package are selected this year itself. She said that large number of godowns should be constructed in all districts of the Sagar division. Therefore suitable land for construction of warehouses should be selected on priority basis.
Under Bundelkhand Economic Package six districts falls in Madhya Pradesh. Out of them five are in Sagar revenue division. All the five districts are included in the National Horticulture Mission. So far, Sagar and Chhattarpur districts were not included under the Mission but now these districts have also been included. Now all the five districts of Sagar revenue division has been covered under Micro Irrigation, State Horticulture Mission, National Agriculture Development and M.P.W. S.R.P. Sagar and Damoh districts were also covered under Medicinal Plants Mission.
Veterinary Department Principal Secretary Shri Manoj Goyal, Fisheries and Horticulture Department Principal Secretary Shri Sevaram, Sagar Revenue Division Commissioner Shri S. K. Ved, collectors of all five districts, chief executive officers of District Panchayats and state-level, divisional level and district level officers were present.
