Will provide post-retirement solution for Army men, boost rural economy DEHRA DUN: An Army Bio Ressource Centre to train retiring personnel in rural technologies so as to enhance their post-retirement earnings will be established here with the help of the Himalayan Environmental Studies Conservation and Research Organisation (HESCO). Announcing this after seeing the various rural technologies on display at HESCO Village here on Wednesday, Lt. Gen. J.P. Singh of the Western Command said that different skills developed by HESCO and other agencies will be taught at the bio resource centre. The intention was to teach revenue generating techniques to the retiring men as well as the unemployed youth so that they did not migrate from villages to urban centres in search of jobs, he said. Better rural economy Apparently impressed by the improvised revenue earning skills suggested by the HESCO patron, Anil Joshi, Gen. Singh said that if the youth learned the HESCO techniques of watermill management, bakeryand handicraft production by utilising locally available material, it could go a long way in improving the rural economy in the border areas.
