New Delhi: Behind Shankar Vihar in southwest Delhi, nestled between Vasant Kunj and Mahipalpur, is a huge stretch of area where sewage water from a nearby treatment plant has accumulated. Residents have been cribbing about mosquito breeding there but Delhi birders discovered that against the backdrop of planes landing at the nearby IGI airport, the spot has been functioning as a wetland, home to several hundred migratory birds.
