Itanagar, Jan 28: The people of Bizari village under Dambuk subdivision had all the reasons to smile on the eve of Republic Day as Parliamentary Secretary for WRD, Art & Culture and Research and local MLA Gum Tayeng switched on the power line to the village, thereby illuminating the area after 24 years. With a total of 61 houses (as per 2011 census), the village is located at a distance of around 37 km from sub-district headquarters, Dambuk and 42km away from district headquarter, Roing was reeling under complete darkness for the last two decades after the mini hydel located Dambuk stopped functioning due to various reasons. Once a bustling village with plywood mill, bank, ginger and organic vegetables hub, the Bizari village faces the nature’s fury with area being flooded every year. The electricity connectivity was one of the most essential amenities that the villagers were longing for since long. According to a villager, they used lanterns and candles to light up their houses as they were not getting electricity till date. “This is for the first time that the village has been electrified and everybody is happy. It was good to see the pleasure of greeting light for the first time on the faces of the villagers,” said a PRI leader. Sanctioned under System Improvement of Power Distribution Network of NEC in Dambuk under Lower Dibang Valley district, the 100 KV a 11/415 line will cater to the electricity need of Bizari village, Junior Engineer Vikash Pertin said. He also stated that under this scheme many more villages including ADC Office would be electrified.
