BJP promises populist schemes

The BJP manifesto, released at Bhopal today, promoses to give ownership rights on forest land to those trinbals who had been living on such land prior to 1980 . It also promises to convert all (tribal- inhabited) "forest" villages of the state into "revenue" villages so that all government facilities available to general villages could be extended to the former. The manifesto was released by the stat BJP president, Mr Nand Kumar Sai, and the leader of the BJP Legislature Party, Mr Vikram Verma, who were flanked by the former Chief Minister, Mr Sunderlal Patwa , and the BJP national general secretary in charge of Madhya Pradesh, Mr Narendra Modi.
