B'lore to host film festival on water

DH News Service, Bangalore: 'Voices from the Waters 2008' - the third International Film Festival on water, is being organised in Bangalore from September 13 to 18. Touted to be the biggest festival in the world on the subject, the film festival will provide a platform for learning, interaction, debate and celebration of water as a precious natural resource. Festival coordinator George Kutty told mediapersons in Bangalore on Monday, that 70 powerful and enchanting films from 30 countries - related to water issues, environment, global warming, wildlife, geo-politics and poignant explorations of water in everyday life - will be screened. Apart from a main screen that would show all the films, a special aquascope screen will stage films which are more of an audio-visual experience, minus the narratives. The directors of most films which will be screened, will be present for an interaction with the public. Not just films There will be conferences and workshops on water, a painting-cum-photo exhibition, and art installations by Bangalorean artists during the occasion. Field activists from across the country will narrate real-life incidents in a session titled
