BMC gets grant to purchase space for disposing waste

The Government has sanctioned a grant of Rs 35 lakh to Bicholim Muncipal Council (BMC), to purchase space for the disposal of garbage at Lakherim in Bordem-Bicholim. Speaking to reporters, BMC Mayor Satish Gaonkar stated that the garbage disposal site selected by BMC belongs to Bordem Comunidade. "The Bordem Comunidade has provided full support to the BMC in our efforts to set a garbage disposal site in the town and we are grateful to the Bodrem comunidade,' said Mr Gaonkar. He informed that the process of acquiring 25,000 sq mtrs of land has been completed and that, the government had already sanctioned a grant of Rs 35 lakh in this regard. "The process of setting up of a well-equipped garbage treatment plant has already begun,' Mr Gaonkar said. The BMC mayor stated that an additional grant of Rs 25 lakh has also been sanctioned for the all-round development of Bicholim area. "The council has planned novel schemes for the development of Bicholim town,' he said. The BMC has also expressed its gratitude to Urban Development Minister Joaquim Alemao for sanctioning the grants to the BMC.
