In one of the major action following the Supreme Court's orders on hawking zones, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporartion (BMC) would have to cancel the licenses of about 17,000 hawkers issued by it in the city of Mumbai. Disclosing this fact to the media, Additional Municipal Commissioner V Patankar said these licenses were issued prior to 1968 and now these vendors have to apply afresh for new ones.
