In a swift operation, the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) razed down nearly 5,000 illegal hutments in Kannahalli and Sigehalli in Karnataka. The operation has not only retrieved the BMP land earmarked for dumping solid waste, but also put an end to apprehensions over losing the prime land to land grabbers. A team of BMP officials headed by Additional Commissioner Gaurav Gupta, Bangalore Urban District Collector Sadiq and IGP BMTF Alok Mohan arrived at the spot at 6 am to launch the drive.
