Hazaribagh, Nov. 23: Deputy commissioner Ravindra Kumar Agarwal today admitted that the water scarcity in the district was worsening each day, and that he had discussed the problem with the urban development department secretary in Ranchi yesterday. Agarwal, who had forwarded a Rs.2.91 crore proposal to install hand pumps in 34 wards of Hazaribagh town, also hinted at a change in plans to tackle the crisis. The deputy commissioner said at present, Hazaribagh has eight water towers. While seven get supply from Charwa Dam, one is fed by the Hazaribagh lake. Agarwal said instead of installing hand pumps, he was now in favour of digging borewells near each water tower.
