BP amoco to offer low-sulphur fuels at pollution blackspots

BP Amoco, the recently merged oil giant, is planning to sell low-sulphur fuels in 40 of the world's most polluted cities. The firm hopes to introduce the relatively clean fuels over the next two years to help cut vehicle emissions, reported the Washington Post on Monday 25 January. BP Amoco chief executive John Browne told the Post that sulphur level reductions will vary from city to city depending on the extent of their pollution problem. The company has not yet chosen the cities where the cleaner fuels will be made available. The US Environmental Protection Agency is currently considering regulating oil companies to make sure they offer low-sulphur gasoline across the country.
