Brahmaputra flowing above danger level

In what could mark onset of the flood season in Assam, the Brahmaputra river is flowing above danger level at Dibrugarh and likely to rise further during the day. This was officially stated by the Flood Forecast Monitoring Directorate, functioning under the Flood Management Organisation of Central Water Commission, Ministry of Water Resources, that monitors water levels of various Indian rivers on a daily basis during monsoon period every year. The Brahamaputra river at Dibrugarh in Assam was flowing above danger level at 104.47 metres and hence in moderate flood; and is likely to continue flowing above the danger level throughout the day. The river Brahamaputra is also flowing above the warning level at Neamatighat in Assam, as it was flowing at 84.39 metres today whereas the warning level for the river at this flood forecasting centre is 84.04 metres. Rivers Dikhow, Dhansiri, Jiabharali and Kosi were also in low-flood situation, official sources said.
