Brazil's government has authorised a pilot project for one of its state capitals to use a pollution-busting diesel fuel containingalcohol distilled from sugar cane in its buses, a spokeswoman said. The project would begin later this month in Curitiba, the capital of Brazil's southern state of Parana, and run for half a year, said the representative of the government's Department of Sugar and Alcohol. "It (the project) was authorised and should begin within a fortnight; 3 percent (of anhydrous alcohol) during a period of six months in 2,500 buses in the metropolitan area of Curitiba," she told Reuters by telephone from Brasilia.
